As they leave the class room once again, Dehx gets the feeling he's being watched, and looks around before stepping out. But the only student back in class, is the new guy, and he's not even looking at him.

Dehx gives a glance down at Chloe, and then back at the other student, before closing the class room.

"So, what d'ya wanna do!?" Chloe chirps, hoping to goof around as long as possible before class resumes and they have to go through the boredom of getting new books (which she'll probably never even open), and new time tables (which she'll probably never even read), and whatever other boring formal stuff there is to do or know (which she'll probably never even listen to)...

"Y'know, just once, I'd like to have a normal day, like everybody else." Dehx groans as they leave the class room again.

"Pfft. Normal is boring." Chloe shrugs.

"Oh yeah? And how would you know that!?" Dehx teases, ruffling his sister's hair, which she'd left loose for today.

Chloe sticks her tongue out at him, playfully.

"Now then, can I trust you not to get into any trouble while I make a pit-stop?" He asks, referring to a trip the "men's room".

"I never get in trouble!" She grins. "I a good girl!"

"Just stay there." Dehx sighs heavily, brining his palm to his face again before walking off and leaving her in the hall on her own. "And I mean right there!" He calls as he continues to walk away.

Chloe pouts and folds her arms, leaning against the now closed class room door, which probably wasn't the best of ideas. After a very short while she gets bored and her eyes start to wonder up and down the hall looking out for anyone she knows or anything to do that doesn't involve being glued to one spot.

Dehx walked into the men's room intent on doing what he came here for. He approached the stalls, but they were all full, so he waited for one to become free. He walked over the sinks and started to wash his hand; that sandwich was disgusting. After he soaped up his hands and rinsed them off, he lent over further to splash water over his face. He heard on of the toilets flush, so he quickly finished. When he lifted his head up, with his dripping face, he saw someone that had been his rival since he joined Shibusen.
"Zach!" Dehx spat as he dried his face.
"Morning Dhex. Have a good Summer?" Zach said dryly.
"What do you care?." Dehx replied as he turned to face him.
"That wasn't nice. What say we put all this hostility behind us, eh?" Zach said as he offered his hand. Dehx thought about it for a moment. He took Zach's offered hand and shook it.
"The stall's all yours." Zach said as he broke the grasp and stepped aside. Dehx nodded his thanks and walked towards the stall. He wasn't even half way there when Zach grabbed his long hair and pulled him down to the ground on his back. Dehx landed heavily, getting the wind knocked out of him. He felt a fist connect with his face. Instinctively, he threw his arms up to protect his head, but there was no further hits. He lowered his arms, noticing little blood stains. He stood as Zach laughed to himself.
"Oops, I slipped." Zach said before he laughed a little again. Dehx looked at him and shook his head. He didn't react, this is what Zach wanted, he always did. He turned and entered the stall. Before he'd even started, he heard a thud as if someone had hit the wall. He thought nothing of it, perhaps Zach was just venting frustration brought on by not getting what he wanted. He heard the door to the corridor open.
"What happened to your head, Zach?" He heard someone say.
"Was just minding my own business when Dehx slammed my head against the wall; so I punched him in the face." Zach reply was muffled as the door closed behind them.

Just as she thinks about walking-off to go outside, Chloe recognises a familar face...

"Zach!" She calls, noticing his head. "Are you alright?"

She'd always been oblivious to Zach's true nature. Though she's known him quite some time, she's never really been able to get him know him properly, as Dehx has always kept the pair of them as far away from eachother as possible. Chloe always figured they were just a couple of a guys who didn't get on - maybe it was just a guy thing or something?

"It's nothing." He says, knowing full-well she'll only ask again.

"Well, that looks like a pretty painful 'nothing'." She says, tip-toeing to get a better look. "What happened?"

"Clo..." He sighs. "I didn't really want to tell you... promise you won't get upset?"

"Just tell me." She demands, putting her hands on her hips.

"Your brother." He says, finally, catching a look of disbelief on her face. "I just bumped into him on my way out and he smashed my head against the wall!"

"What!?" Chloe asks, complete shocked. "That's not like him at all..." She then stops to think. "Brother's been so stressed out this morning..."

Dehx and Zach had been known to not get along, and quite often had verbal arguements, but never a physical fight... not that she'd ever known of anyways.

"I'm sorry... I didn't want to tell you, but I just can't lie to you." He says. "Speaking of which... I have a confession to make... I... I had to hit him back. It was the only way to get him to stop... look, I'm going to the nurse. If you need to talk, I'll be around, okay?" He says before continuing on his way, leaving Chloe to think about things.

And she can't help but feel guilty. She grows a sad look on her face as she thinks about how it must be her fault that her brother has been stressed out to such an extreme point. She doesn't want to stress him anymore...

She turns and opens the door to class again, then plodding in slowly and finding her seat without even a word to Julian, or even really noticing the guy from before who's still in the room. She just sits, silently, looking down and feeling awful... on the verge of crying...

When Dehx had entered the mensroom, the stalls were all full. After a few people coming and going, he left the stall and went over the sinks. He looked at himself in the mirror. Again, he leant over the sinks and began splashing his face with water, cleaning the wounds. He took some towels and dried his bleeding face, now able to see the wounds. They were clearly incisions. Zach, it was known, is a weapon without a meister, whose wavelength was extremely unstable. So far, no one had been able to match it, rendering him useless to anyone else. In weapon form, he was a whipe with serations down it's length. He is often seen with these serations down his knuckles. Evidentaly, he had these serations when he punched Dehx. Four lines down his face. Pretty brutal for a single punch, but it was nothing Dehx couldn't deal with. He didn't feel the need to bug the nurse for every little cut and bruise. One cut, in particular, looked bad, so maybe he would have to see the nurse for that, but he would see how it went.

Dehx finished cleaning up and left the men's room. He looked around for Chloe, but she was gone. He breathed a heavy sigh; one that was a mix of annoyance and relieve. Knowing Chloe, she was probably off somewhere getting into trouble. He was relieved, though, that she wasn't here to see what had happened.

Chandler kept his eyes down and his presence as inconspicuous as possible. Why did his soul have to change for this girl? Someone so full of like an emotionally carefree? Couldn't people control themselves? He took out a bit of paper and scrawled a note on it. Curse his shifting soul!

He finished writing and folded it up for minimum air resistance and flung it sideways to the girl. Hopefully, she wouldn't take it the wrong way in the emotional state she was in... but then again, you never know.

There is no need to cry, Ms Tabit. It's only the first day.

Chloe feels something lightly tap against her, catching her attention. A folded-up bit of paper, which she picks-up, and slowly unfolds, a little confused.

The note reads:
"There is no need to cry, Ms Tabit. It's only the first day."

Chloe sniffs and quietly giggles a little to herself.

"Idiot." She thinks, finding it funny, for some reason.

If only that's all it was... first day blues. She remembers those well. She always hated being new at or to anything... for some reason she always felt like other were judging her when it came to those kinds of occations. She always felt the odd-one-out, even if her brother was there with her. The whole "new girl" thing was always so awkward for some reason...

Anyway...

She rubs her eyes in an attempt to get rid of any tears, and she turns in the direction the note came from, facing it's sender, and replying with a smile.

Dehx walked down the corridor, not really aiming anywhere. The flow of blood from his face had slowed to a trickle. He had debated on going to the nurse, but he decided that it wasn't all that bad. If it got worse, he was sure that he would be excused. He decided that he would go back to class. There wasn't much else he wanted to do, anyway; and nothing that couldn't wait. And so, he made his way back to class. He had to face everyone, anyway, why not get there first and wait for everyone.

Dehx pushed the door open and entered the room. He didn't look around the room, nor did he look at Julian who sat at his desk.
"Dare I ask?" Asked Julian. Dehx just waved him off as he made his way to his seat. He noticed Chloe sitting in her seat, looking rather upset. He had thought about hiding the cuts on his face, but cheering his sister up was more important. He spotted another student nearby, someone he had not really known before; perhaps he was new. He nodded at the student as he turned onto his row, and walked towards his own chair.

The hot desert seemed to stretch on for miles; it was boundless, blending with the sky ahead like a painting. Aerona reached her hand toward the sky in an attempt to feel the canvas. Her eyes felt heavy and she sighed at herself, disappointed that she had decided to take this route to the next town. She recalled the directions she had received from a young man in the city they had been in before.

"Death City, is that direction, across the desert. Bog City is to the north, only a few hours walk." The young man said. "Oh, well I've been meaning to visit Death City, how far is it from here?" She had asked. "About three days if you walk light." He had replied.

"Three days. I should pack lighter next time." She muttered, jumping so as to adjust the weight of the three gallons of water on her back.

"Would you like me to carry it?" Ceto offered. He was already carrying a good share of their travel goods, which included two blankets, a first aid kit, a small tent and a few other camping supplies.

"No, I've got it. I just didn't want us to get thirsty and die out here, you know?" Aerona tried her best not to sound tired. Ceto frowned.

A few hours later, as the sun was beginning to set, Aerona began to see a small object, far up ahead, jutting up from the white sand. She squinted her eyes and focused on the object. It seemed like some sort of superstructure.

"Ceto, is that what I think it is?" Aerona's pace quickened.

"It sure looks like it. We should be there in a few hours." Ceto's steps also became lighter as they approached Death City.

"What a wonderful sight. I can't wait to sleep on a proper bed tonight!" Aerona smiled.

Though she's somehow feeling a little better, Chloe avoids eye-contact with Dehx as he takes his seat next to her. She takes another look at her note, before folding it away and shoving it into her pocket, then rests her hands on her lap.

"What's up?" He asks, giving her a concerned look.

"Nothing." She says quietly, shaking her head.

Dehx isn't convinced, but there doesn't seem to be much he can do it right now as the rest of the student seem to be returning, and the last thing he wants it to upset Chloe infront of everyone. Despite the attention she seems to bring upon herself, he knows it's not actually something she wants... especially when she's upset about something.

Chloe, feeling her brother's eyes watching over her, leans her head foward a little, making her hair flop down and hide as much of her face as possible. She doesn't want Dehx to be concerned about her.

Out of the corner of his eyes, Chandler watched the girl, trying to find a way to lessen the depression she seemed to be falling into. He couldn't think of anything else he could do, his own past being more of a blur and his recent dealings with people being strictly business, he had very little experience in cheering people up.

The day wore on, glances being stolen when the one thought the other wasn't looking. When they day finished, Chandler rose, packed his meager amount of gear and headed out to his locker.

As the students leave the class, Chloe plods on to her locker, opening it and stuffing her new set of study books inside. She turns around to see Dehx standing around, like he'ss waiting for her eventhough he knows she had to stay behind today to clean out his locker. She waves him over, still being unusually quiet.

"I know Julian said you could use his desk... but you can use my locker today if you want?" She offers, showing him there's still plenty of room inside for his books as well.

"Well... alright." Dehx answers, still concerned with her, and considers offering to clean his locker himself seeing as there's obviously something very wrong with her today, but before he can get a word out, she's smiling up at him suddenly.

"I'll clean your locker up all by myself!!" She says, giving him a nod.

Dehx hesitates for a moment, not really knowing what to say, but then he smiles, hoping a smile on his face will cheer her up a little.

"Do your best!" He says, giving her a single pat on the head before leaving off.

But he doesn't get far before looking over his shoulder at her, only to her face has dropped again and she's just leaning against the lockers, waiting for everyone else to leave so she can get on with her cleaning task.

Dehx heads back into the class room, without Chloe seeing, to express his concerns to Julian, and ask him to keep an eye on her.

Dehx walked back into the classroom to see Julian. He waited by the front desks for all of the students to file out.
"Ah, Dehx, I was wondering where you had got to. Did you want me to stow your books?" Julian asked him.
"It's taken care of, thanks anyway." Dehx replied.
"So, you ready to talk about what happened to your face?" Julian asked with a little more conern in his voice.
"Not really, I'm here for something else." Dehx started.
"Oh?" Was all Julian could manage in reply.
"It's about Chloe. She seems a little upset and I was wondering if you could keep and eye on her?" Dehx asked as he sat himself on the desk. Julian slouched back in his chair.
"Sure, you don't even need to ask. Was that all?" Julian said.
"For now; yes." Dehx said as he sat there with a mock smile on his face.
"Then go, tomorrow's a full day, so make the most of today. And when you're ready to talk about what happened, you know where I am." Julian said in a mock authoritive tone. Dehx nodded his thanks and left the room

Watching from his locker, Chandler put his books neatly away. 'She is still having trouble. Cursed soul, make a damn decision." He was still watching when someone crept up next to him."Who do you think you are, staring at Chloe like that, new guy?" A young man with a ponytail falling all the way down his back asked incredulously. His breath fresh and his darker skin marking him as no-one Chandler knew. Turning to face this man, Chandler replied, "Doing something that is none of your business and you will probably never have a stake in it. Leave before this becomes heated." He turned back to close his locker.

He heard the fist coming and pushed it aside with his forearm, but not without pain as something ripped the skin on his arm. His face was calm as he wiped the blood onto his dark trousers. "A serrated weapon, very ferocious. Excellent in attack and counter attack, but defense is always a weak spot. Defending for a serrated weapons means getting out of the way and not making holes for a counter. Running and hiding then attacking with surprise for maximum damage." Chandler stated, pulling apart the statistics of a serrated weapon and giving the textbook description of them. Enraged, the man came at him again, forming the serrations on both fists, a full attack. Chandler sidestepped the blows and brought a open-handed strike to within inches of the others face, not attempting to finish it. The other turned and twisted away, a split second after the strike would have connected. "Two, three, four, five..." Chandler counted. 'What the hell are you counting for?!" The man shouted.
"The number of times I could have hit you within your gaudy movement..." Chandler bit back, his urge to kick the living cr@p out of this guy rising to the surface. 'I have to end this before I loose control. Why hasn't he backed off already...' Chandler thought as he moved off, trying to finish the brawl without further bloodshed. The man came back at him, sensing an advantage with Chandler's back to him. A boot came out from under him and struck the man mid stride, sending the guy flying back to skid along the floor. Passing Chloe, Chandler whispered, "I hate being new...", and moved off, slowly walking back to his one bedroom apartment.

Chloe stands by the lockers, trying to take in all that just happened. What a strange first day back it's been... still, it took her focus off her depressive mood for a while.

"So, shall we get to work?" Comes a familiar and cheerful voice.

Chloe turns to see Julian stepping out of the class room, pulling bucket and some cleaning products seemingly out-of-nowhere. Chloe flops her head, not looking forward to this task one bit... but then remembers her words to her brother, his reply to her.

"I'll do my best!!" She smiles suddenly, tacking the items from Julian and making her way to the locker, putting the key into it and turning it with a gulp before she looks inside. "OH GOD!!"

Sometime (much) later... outside Chloe's appartment...

Julian stands alone in the street, reaches for his phone, and calls Dehx...

"Hello? Julian?" He answers.

"Hello Dehx." Julian replies. "Are you free to talk a little?"

"What has she done this time?" Dehx groans.

"Nothing." Julian chuckles for a moment. "It's just... I wanted to let you know I got her home okay."

"Eh? Well, thanks, but I only meant for you to keep an eye on her at school. You didn't have to, wait... she made you clean it all, didn't she?" He sighs.

"No, no. She cleaned the whole thing by herself." Julian explains. "She wouldn't let me help... but I had to make sure she got home okay because the whole thing seemed to make her pretty sick. She just looked so pale... I had to help her home."

Dehx put the phone down and headed into his bathroom. The wounds on his face had started to heal, though one looked like it would need stitches to heal properly. He washed his face carefully, once again and headed towards the door. He picked his phone up from the side, as well as Chloe's, and left his apartment.

He wandered down the road to his sisters and entered the building. He went up to her floor and knocked on her door. He waited for a few moments, but there was no answer. She was probably asleep. He waited for a bit longer, to see if she would answer, but there was still no answer. Dehx looked up and down the hallway; the long empty hallyway. He smiled to himself and let himself in.

Inside Chloe's apartment, it was still the same mess it had been in the morning; maybe a bit worse. There she was, laying on the sofa. Julian had said she was feeling under the weather, so she did deserve a rest.
"Dehx?" She said as she lifted her head to see him.
"Yeah, Chlo?" He said as he looked down at her.
"You have got to stop getting in like that." She said.
"You've got to give me a key, then," Dhex said with a little chuckle. He put her phone on the side by her head, "you can have your phone back. I have to get you out of bed, somehow."
"Thanks. You don't have to stay to look after me." She said in reply as she pulled the a thin cover over herself.
"That's what family does."Dehx said as he stood up and decided to clear some of the mess away.
