Re: Alien
A great film with chilling moments and of course one of the most famous movie moments of all time. The chest bursting scene!
Interesting side note, in the chest bursting scene, when they did it, the actors had NO idea THAT was going to happen. They knew something was going to happen but that didn't know THAT was going to happen so the shock on thier faces is 100% real!

I still think them not knowing about that happening was a good idea. The chest bursting is amazing but thier genuine shock on thier faces adds to it too.

It was an awesome idea! More movies should use that trick and scare the crap outta their actors. =p

Good idea! I'm trying to think of other films when they have used genuine reactions. Any films come to mind anyone?

I like it. Don't know why I haven't watched it before now. I'm not a fan in the whole "man in a rubber suit" thing. It feels a little too... what's the word I'm looking for, here... Godzilla. A man in a rubber suit would look good if you were making a Xenomorph look obese. It just doesn't work to give them that sleek, streamlined look of an apex predatory bugs that they are. This is one film that I reckon would've benefitted from moderate use of CGI, though it should be left how it is; no sense in messing with it now, lol.

Yeah, but there will always be the "rubber suit Vs CGI" debate

Re: Alien
After a lot of thought, I've changed my mind about the rubber suit. Given the fact that the Xenos actually contain a little DNA from their hosts, and before Kane they took most of their form from the Space Jockeys (who were considerably larger than humans from what I could tell), the "obese" look of Giger's Alien was about right.
