    Battlespace Intergalactica

Post by Lucheiah on Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:28 pm

Bad parody of every sci-fi genre out there!! I wrote this about 4 years ago, so forgive meh!

    BATTLESPACE INTERGALACTICA

This is a sci-fi genre RP, thus there are some things that you should take notice of. Firstly, I have set a limit on the types of ships people can have. This is so there can be no chance at godmodding or power playing with your ships. They all have advantages and disadvantages. Live with it. Ditto with weapons systems, engines, shields, and other stuff like that. Secondly, I will be making several character classes, and would appreciate if you stuck to them. You can be half and half, but no more than 2 classes can be used per character, or it will be too complicated. And try to keep it realistic.

    Ok, down to business.

    Background:
The year is 2780. Humankind has spread out across the galaxy, colonising each inhabitable world they came across, and meeting new races. But peace did not last long. Soon the heavily populated, wealthy core planets began to rely heavily on the rim worlds to import goods necessary to their survival. At first this was a fine, fair arrangement. However, greed soon reared its ugly head, and the core worlds began to demand that they pay less, due to the “protection” they offered from “external threats”. Oppression became the flavour of the day, with the core worlds using their armies to crush those worlds who opposed them. The rim colonies became slaves to the core worlds, and human and alien alike were expected to accept it or die. Some of the more influential figures on the rim worlds began an underground movement to overthrow the oppressive Core World Confederacy (CWC), and soon this movement began to enjoy minor successes. The Rim Underground (RU) gained the sympathy of some of the core worlds that were not getting the full benefit of the CWC. With money behind them, the RU began to launch stronger offensives and soon, the galaxy was plunged into the turmoil of intergalactic war…

SECTION 1: CLASSES AND RACES; DRONES

To keep it fair and simple, I will allow 6 races to be used in this RP. You are allowed to make your character half-and-half, but may use no more than 2 races combined to make your character.

    Races:
    Altmer: (elves with powerful magic)
    Felpurr: (feline humanoids)
Lings: (halfsize humanoids with a reputation for mischief)
    Human:
    Sylph: (humanoids with angelic wings)
Cybron: A race of drones equipped with an extremely sophisticated AI. Due to their mechanical nature, Cybrons cannot reproduce with organic races - so obviously, no half-cybron characters, kthx.

    Player Classes:
Bounty Hunter: these people hunt down wanted targets and either capture them alive, or eliminate them, depending on how much they get paid.
Mercenary: these people will take any job for the right price. Most mercenaries are smugglers with side skills, such as theft, assassination, or the like
Pirate: these people have one goal in life: causing havoc for others. They raid freighters and smugglers, attack lone naval ships, and generally cause a lot of trouble wherever they go.
Smuggler: these people smuggle illegal goods between destinations for money. They often have to maintain their own ships, which is why some of the best mechanics in the galaxy are smugglers or pirates.
Mancer: Altmer magi, who can command elemental, psionic or even temporal powers. Common mancers are Geomancers, Pyromancers, Cryomancers, Psymancers.

    NPC Classes:
These classes will appear in the story, but cannot be played because, let's face it, the above are much more fun!!

Crime lord: These people are in charge of the illegal operations around the galaxy. They often have bounty hunters, smugglers, mercenaries, pirates and the like at their beck and call.
Fighter pilot: pretty self-explanatory: they fly and they defend larger ships or bases.
Freighter pilot: don’t confuse this with Fighter pilot: Freighter pilots are in charge of large freight ships, transporting legal cargo and ferrying passengers, for a price.
Medic: Physician. Doctor. Person who fixes you when you are broken. 'Nuff said.
Naval officer: The people who command the capital ships of the CWC and RU navies.
Soldier: Troops under the command of their naval officers, who do a lot of land fighting. They fall under several sub-categories:
    Land troops: your basic soldier
Specialist troops: similar to today’s SAS – elite troops trained extensively in Guerrilla warfare, espionage, and the like.
    Divers: under-water combat experts.
Zero-Gee soldier: soldiers that are trained to fight in zero gravity, wearing special space-combat suits.

    Drones
Robots. 'Nuff said. Most drones are possessed of a comprehensive and complex AI system, but general worker drones have a simple processor system and can only do programmed tasks.

Medidrone: Dr Roboto. Not as good as a human(oid) medic, but more durable and easier to replace.
Mechanidrone: Fixit robots. Again, not as good as humanoid mechanics (due to a lack of instinct) but cheaper and easier to replace.
Andrones: Drones that look like humans. Found everywhere - often as shop attendants, secretaries, waitresses, drivers and other service-type workers.
Cyborgs: Half-humanoid, half-drone. The benign ones are usually humanoids who have taken injuries and have drone replacement parts; malignant cyborgs are truly terrors to behold.
General drones: Such things as heavy lifter drones, factory assembly lines and such, that are programmed to do a set task and nothing else. Useful in a limited capacity.

    SECTION 2: SHIPS AND PARTS

There will be 5 of each of the following: Ship brands, Afterburner engines (the main propulsion system), Interspace drives (engines able to take ships to light speed, handy over long trips), Guns, Missile emplacements, and Shield systems. You can customise your ship, but keep it reasonable. I will list what ships certain parts are suited for. One thing I would like to point out: To make it fair, you cannot have more than 3 systems (afterburners, interdrives, shields or weapons) running at one time. For example, you can have your guns, sheilds and afterburners going at the same time, but you must sacrifice your interdrive to do so, and so on.

    Ship brands:
Geraldy – a line of light freighters/heavy fighters with excellent speed and manoeuvrability, but only light weaponry, shielding and a relatively small cargo capacity of 100 tons.
Romalsi – a line of medium-sized freighters, with a slightly lower speed and manoeuvrability than the Geraldy, but with heavier weapons and shields, and a larger cargo capacity of 200 tons.
Sytarak: A line of heavy freighters, much less manoeuvrable and a lot slower than the others, but with massively powerful shielding and decent weaponry, and a large cargo capacity of 300 tons.
Epsilon: a range of pure fighters. What they lack in firepower, shielding and cargo space is more than made up for with speed and manoeuvrability. These ships are not able to go to Interspace, and need to be transported by a Capital ship.
Omega: The only line of capital ships on the market. Capital ships are extremely large, slow ships that require massive crews to run, have cargo capacity of over 10,000 tons, and have intensely powerful weapons and shielding systems.

    Afterburners:
Afterburners are your ship’s main propulsion drives. They manoeuvre your ship, as well as driving it forwards. I will be listing the manoeuvrability in 3 categories: yaw (turning the nose left or right while sitting flat), pitch (tilting the nose up or down) and roll (rolling the ship on its axis), in degrees per second (dps). Speed is in kilometres per second (kps).

Kytiar: A good light freighter/heavy fighter drive.
Max speed: 1200kps. Yaw: 90dps, Pitch: 90dps, Roll: 110 dps
Radion: A good medium freighter engine, lacking in manoeuvrability but making up for it with much higher speed.
    Max speed: 1500kps. Yaw: 80dps, Pitch: 80dps, Roll: 90dps
Starsprint: A powerful engine suited to large freighters.
    Max speed: 1100kps. Yaw: 70dps, Pitch: 70dps, Roll: 80dps
Xenon: An engine made specifically for light to medium fighters, with excellent speed and manoeuvrability.
    Max speed: 1800kps. Yaw: 120dps, Pitch: 120dps, Roll: 135dps
Xyitar: An engine made to cater for Capital ships.
    Max speed: 600kps. Yaw: 30dps, Pitch: 30dps, Roll: 45dps

    Interspace Drives:
These are powerful engines used to take a vessel to “interspace” or light speed. Their speed is measured in light-years per hour (lph).

Ohmsford: A good light freighter/heavy fighter Interspace drive.
    Max speed: 90 lph
Petiron: A good Interspace drive for medium freighters.
    Max speed: 85 lph
Upsilon: Interspace drives for heavy freighters.
    Max Speed: 80 lph
Rover: Interspace drives for Capital ships.
    Max Speed: 75 lph

    Guns:
Tachyon beam: a powerful energy beam weapon found on medium and heavy freighters.
Pulse cannons: commonly found on light freighters and heavy fighters.
Laser cannons: found on all ship makes, and the only weapon carried by light and medium fighters.
Ion battery: A special type of energy weapon that does not inflict physical damage, but will disrupt electrical systems, thus rendering a vessel useless. Carried by Capital ships only.
Particle beam: an advanced version of the Tachyon beam, carried by Capital ships only.

    Missile emplacements:
IMREC missiles: a special “smart bomb” type of missile, which takes 3 seconds to lock onto the transponder signal of the target ship and follows the ship for 15 seconds, or until the vessel is destroyed. Carried by all fighters.
Stardust missile: A special missile that is remote activated and, upon explosion, disrupts electrical systems and causes a sonic shock wave to damage ships over a range of 1000 metres, regardless of whether they are friend or enemy. Carried by Freighters only.
Carbondorum warheads: These are massive, guided warheads, coated with a special alloy known as carbondorum, which is virtually indestructible, but is extremely heavy. Due to this weight, only Capital ships can carry these missiles.
Omnus torpedoes: A small, lightweight nuclear device, carried by all fighters and freighters, and very useful against enemy capital ships. They have a very sophisticated guidance system, which takes 12 seconds to lock onto the target. Due to this, it is advised that you do not use a torpedo unless you have someone to cover you.
Mellel torpedoes: A larger version of the Omnus, carried by Capital ships, with the same restriction of a 12 second lock time. These can, in some cases, destroy an enemy capital ship in one blow, but only in very special circumstances will a capital ship unload one of these, because it requires the shields on the side the torpedo tube is located to be dropped until the torp is locked and away.

    Shield systems:
    Mitysar: Shields for heavy freighters
    Sytarak: Shields for medium freighters
Prekkendoran: shields for light freighters and heavy fighters
Minerva: Shields for light and medium fighters
    Aegis: shields for capital ships.

    SECTION 3 – PLANETARY SYSTEMS

To make it easy, I will list 10 planetary systems (5 core systems, 5 Rim systems). Not every planet located in the core area is part of the CWC, nor every planet on the Rim a member of the RU.

    Core Worlds:
Earth – human homeworld (you should all know what Earth looks like). HQ of the CWC.
Paxor Prime: Cybron homeworld – a planet composed of an entire city, extremely high tech (think Coruscant from Star Wars and you’ve got it) member of CWC
Colchis: Sylph homeworld – grasslands and lots of lakes and forests, and elegant cities. (Think Naboo from star wars…) Member of RU
Regulus: Ling homeworld – mesas and caves, wide rolling plains, sparsely settled. Member of the RU
Capella: Altmer homeworld – much like Colchis. Member of RU

    Rim Worlds:
Levo: a pastoral (farming) planet, colonised by Man in the First Colonisation movement. Member of the CWC
Silvar: shared colony world of Sylphs, Altmer and Humans – much like Colchis, but with more cities. Known as the Planet of the Angels. Headquarters of the RU
Daneen: manufacturing colony world, with the largest Shipyards in the galaxy – planet surface is uninhabitable due to extreme tectonic instability , but remote controlled mining machines can bring up valuable ore to be made into precious alloys for ship making. Colonists live in large space stations around the planet. Member of RU
Gaea: Human colony world – much like Earth. Member of CWC
Fratha: Felpurr home world – well kept grasslands and cities. Member of CWC

    SECTION FOUR: THE STORY

The galaxy is seething in turmoil, with planetaries taking pot shots at each other at every opportunity. Skirmishes happen along system boundaries, ships disappear without a trace, and the fragile peace that once was, has been shattered.
In this current climate, you can make a good living, if you do it right. If your morals are sufficiently lacking, you can turn an easy living from just about anything. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Desert, as far as the eye could see. The wind whipped loose bits of sand into a frenzy as it moved at great speed across the surface. A lone spaceport interrupted the rolling horizon. A battered Geraldy XJ 4200 made its descent, whipping the already frenzied grains into fierce turbulence. The sand settled as it touched down. A ramp lowered from the underside, granting access to within.

A lone man stepped off the now open ramp and headed of towards a cantina. The man walked into the cantina and headed straight for the bar.
“…and what would you like?” said the barkeep in a rather rough voice, probably due to forever being in the smoky atmosphere.
“What you got?” he replied coarsely.
“The usual,” The barkeep answered, his voice almost rasping.
“Nothing new then?” the man pushed. Something slowly clicked inside the head of the barkeep.
“No luck with the Psylocke yet.” The barkeep replied apologetically.
“Just give me my usual drink then.” Said the man, it was obvious that he was a regular.
“Excuse me…” said a voice as the barkeep walked away. The man just turned his head towards the source slightly. There was a slightly awkward silence.
    “Yeah?” said the man, finally.
“I couldn’t help hearing, you’re looking for the Psylocke?” said the newcomer.
“What’s it to ya’?” the first man said as the barkeep brought his drink over.
“I’ll put it on the tab, yeah?” asked the barkeep, the first man nodded his reply.
“Well, you do know that no-one has got it to power up, right?” said the second man.
“Well, I never tried.” said the first man confidently.
“I got a proposition for you.” The second man said.
    “Shoot.”
“I know a guy that can start it, someone who worked on it a lot when its pilot was still alive. I’ll show him to you. All I ask is that you take me with you off this planet.” The second man proposed.
“Sit down. It seems like we have summat to talk about.” Said the first man.
“R9, get over here.” Said the second man as he sat down.
“So what’s your name?” the first man asked the second.
“Shamus Harper. And you?” said the second man, now known as Shamus Harper.
“Hynne, Francis Hynne.” Francis said as he got the attention of the barkeep.
“What’s your poison?” the barkeep asked Shamus.
“Whatever you got, as long as its alcoholic.” Said Shamus.
    “Fair enough.” Said the barkeep.

Wil let her gaze wander across the cantina, noting the denizens quickly and filing them away for future consideration - which ones were potential threats, which might have something worth stealing, which were likely watching her the same way. Suddenly a snippet of conversation from the bar caught her ear.

    "...with the Psylocke yet."
    "Just give me my usual..."

"Psylocke? The Psylocke? I thought that was just a legend..." Wil thought, surreptitiously watching the man as he was approached by another, also talking about the Psylocke. "Apparently they don't know the value of information..." she thought, her lip curling with amused contempt as she listened carefully. Before the men had finished their conversation, she put her drink down, tossed a coin to the barkeeper and walked out, concealing herself in the shadows of an alleyway just opposite the cantina. She hunkered down in the darkness and settled in to wait and see what came of this Psylocke rumour.

The planet was as non-descript as Calim'rath hoped. After the recent scuffle with the RU patrols he needed somewhere to lay low for a while and who would think to look for a felpurr and a thrice-damned desert planet. People knew how annoyed felpurrs get with sand in the fur. He wrapped a loose, soft cloth around his shoulders and slid into his sand boots. "They really make trouble for me..." He stated as he left the 'Gilded Samrang' and the hatch retracted closed behind him, "and after all I do for them. Such gratitude is only shown by Humans and the grating Altmer. Stuck up magic-infused snobs." He crossed the street to get out of the heat as soon as possible. A small canteena with a darkened door beconed, and he happily entered.
"What'r ye doin' here, kitty?" Came a brazen voice from the left of the door. Calim'rath stopped in his tracks, searching his brain for where he had heard that voice before. "The same as a bald-skin, lecher like you, Merang. Spending my coin whilst others run around like plain herders without a flock." Calim'rath retorted, knowing exactly how much trouble he would be in if he didnt get this man out of here as soon as possible. "That so, kitty? Mebe this folk have no need o' yer coin, but instead need mo' cat meat fer the poor? No matter, I was finished anyways." Merang finished, slamming his mug down and stalking out of the bar. Someone began to shout after him but Calim'rath found them with his stare and flashed his coin bag. The man settled back behind the bar and continued about his business.

The natural milk of this planets herbivores was bitter but was always mixed with a great number of numbing poisons which made Calim'rath alert but relaxed. "Nothing beats a good Kalesh after a good days hidin'." He said, beginning to resort to the natural Felpurr toungue. He was sitted as so that any... unprovoked attack would come from his right, just where he had strapped his knife to cover his kidney and the metal plate he had put over that side of his ribcage made anything but a blaster almost useless. It would still hurt like cammeh but it was better than him taking the longsleep like so many of his marks.

Shamus was sat waiting for his drink while Francis was sat hunched over, nursing his drink for a few moments when the commotion in the cantina kicked off. Shamus spun round, but not before Francis had one of his hands ready to pull his blaster the moment things started to get ugly. Together they sat in silence the moment the barkeep started shouting something until the moment one of the men stepped out into the parched air or the streets. Francis relaxed a bit, knowing the worst was over. Shamus couldn't help but look on. He was finally brought back to reality by Francis nudging his leg.
"Your drink's here." Francis said as he went back to his pint. Shamus quietly reached for his drink.
"What was that all about?" He said rhetorically after swallowing his first mouthful.
"Nothing we need to be concerned about." Francis said quickly before taking a mouthful of his own. He looked out of the corner of his eye at the rough looking Felpurr that had been involved in the encounter several times. Well, well, well, if it isn't Kindurraf Breen. That's a face I've not seen in a while. He thought to himself as the familiar face brought back past memories of brief encounters.

Wil, crouched in the shadows, started in surprise as a Felpurr sauntered over to the cantina. "A Felpurr? Here??" she wondered, thrown by the strangeness of the situation. "Wonder if he's in on the Psylocke too?"

She hesitated a moment, then quickly stepped back onto the street and slipped over to the cantina door, palming it open and stepping through unobtrusively. She wandered over to the bar, gave the barkeep a wink, and flipped him a coin. "Three fingers of Verillion scotch, neat, with a twist of Shrimple on the side..." she asked cheerfully, as she settled onto her stool more comfortably.
"Bit of a departure from tradition?" the barkeep asked, raising his eyebrow. Wil grinned.
"You know I don't believe in tradition!" she replied, looking scandalised. She let her gaze slide idly around the bar, making note of where the Felpurr and the Psylocke boys were sitting as she waited on her drink.

    "Dammiiiiit!!"

Jinx barely manages to keep control of her "recently aquired" fighter ship, as she's forced to make this emergancy landing in the desert. As the ship continues to slide across the ground on it's belly, it's landing gear being completely broken, she forcefully kicks open the hatch and jumps out, rolling for a little while after she hits the floor.

"Crap." She says to herself as she looks on at the damaged ship. "Crap!" She repeats as feels the sand in her fur as she gets to her feet. "Crap!!" She growls as she tries to shake it from her hair.

As she looks up again, she notices a canteena not too away. But, more importantly, she notices the ships parked around outside, and a smirk grows upon her face.

    "Jackpot."

Francis had questions going through his mind, questions about The Psylocke. He didn't think it would be good for this arrangement to ask them all, and the ones he would've asked were either too "out there" to ask Shamus or ones he already knew the answers to.
"What makes you so interested in The Psylocke?" Shamus asked over the rim of his mug.
"You could say that I like my history." Francis replied as he glanced around the cantina, taking note of all the faces. The only one that stuck out to him was Breen. He was unsure if Breen had seen him, but then Francis would've known if he had been spotted.
"What about you, what's your interest in The Psylocke?" Francis asked, keeping in the spirit of conversation.
"None, I just want of this rock." Shamus said as he took another sip of his drink. His drone beeped at him. Francis looked at it with a look of confusion on his face.
"What's to say I won't leave you here?" He pryed.
"At this moment, you need me more than I need you. Leave me here and you'll sacrifice your only lead on The Psylocke. I won't have any troubles finding someone else to get me away from here, but you'll have a hell of a job finding someone that knows even half of what I know that will help you." Shamus said with a smile, he had his lift off-world and he knew it.

"History, huh?" Wil thought as she sipped her drink. Even a street kid like her knew the legend of the Psylocke - a ship with a neural interface. Even the governments weren't bringing neural out en masse yet. Whoever found her could do just about anything - and this guy was saying he had a lead. She resolved to follow them however she could...

Francis just looked at Shamus for a few moments, who wore a smug look.
"You're pretty confident that I'm going to take you offworld, aren't you?" He said, finally.
"Damn straight. But if you're really not interested, I guess I'll just find someone else-" Shamus said as he put his mug down and stood up. "Does anyone-" He started to shout around the cantina before Francis grabbed his wrist and pulled him down.
"Alright, I'll do it. But you better hold up your end of the deal, else I'll be dropping you of with some slavers for wasting my time." Francis seethed, still holding Shamus' wrist. Shamus did nothing but smile at him.

Something grated on Calim'rath's senses, something he couldn't put a claw on. He decided it was a meaningless thing and ordered another Kalesh. Glad that the bartender knew the felpurrian name for the drink, he sat back, beginning to get comfortable. "I might have to keep this place in mind for a Horumaf if I ever need it again." Horumaf being the loosley translated term for warren or hidey hole.

As the drink was placed on his table by one of the younger human females that tended to be most bar waitress's. His sense of smell told him that it was her time of the moon and he courtily paid for all his drinks, thinking he might head back and do some maintenance on The Gilded Samrang while he waited for things to cool down, but then a familiar scent struck him. As he was on the way to being inebriated, every sense other than sight performed better, a compensation he had trained for when he would be drugged. One of the few who had crossed him, he was sure, one of the few who should know better than to be in the same bar as Calim'rath. He couldn't remember a name, because the smells mixed and mingled where he was sitting and because of the drinks, he could not make out individual faces. He would divert his attention to hearing for this last drink and if he found out who it was who was here when he got to the Samrang, he would grab some more money and stalk..... once this numbness wore off....

Francis relaxed a bit as he saw the Felpurr leave. Though he was out of site, he knew Breen would not be too far away.
"What's the deal with you and that Felpurr?" Shamus said as he continued looking over the bar at the wall behind.
"What are you talking about?" Francis retorted, his face betrayed his confusion.
"I see more than you know, and you've been keeping an eye on him since he arrived." Shamus said as he smiled at his drone.
"Nothing wrong with a bit of caution." Francis said, thinking about how the encounter could've, and most probably would've gone.
"I guess. He didn't look like he would be too much trouble, but then I've never come across a Felpurr like him, especially not here." Shamus admitted, sheepishly.
"You got a lot to learn. Stick with me and you'll be fine." Francis said as Shamus gave a little chuckle. "What?" Francis said.
"Not more than 10 minutes ago, you were thinking about leaving me here, now you're acting like I'm the one going to be leaving you here." Shamus said as he shook his head lightly. After another small chuckle, he finished his drink with a gasp of satisfaction.

"Oh, for the sake of the gods, will you leave and go in search of your stupid Psylocke already?" Wil grumbled under her breath, slamming her drink down impatiently. She tapped the empty glass on the bar, and the barkeeper passed her another of the same.

Francis' thoughts rolled over in his head. He was trying to think of where he was to go, but all he could think of was dead leads. One name came to mind, but he didn't really like going there; Paxor Prime. It wasn't because they were a particularly nasty race, quite the opposite, Francis just prefered a more human touch. If it wasn't for the fact that Paxor Prime was a bustling planet-wide city, it would be completely mechanised; something you'd expect to leave it's own orbit and fly under it's own power. He chuckled at the thought.
"What's so funny?" Shamus asked curiously, even R9 gave a series of curious sounding beeps.
"Paxor Prime." Francis said as he composed himself. R9 chirped a rapid series of beeps and whistles.
"No kidding? This could be interesting." Shamus said to R9.
"You understood that?" Francis said with a shocked voice that matched the look of shock that spread across his face.
"Of course I do, I built him." Shamus said proudly.
"Well?" Francis pryed, curious as to what the little drone said.
"He says that Paxor Prime if home to the Cybrons; drones with a very sophisticated AI." Shamus explained.
"Smart tin can you have there." Francis said, slightly impressed, but he didn't let that show, "it just happens to be our destination once we leave here."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Shamus said as he downed the remaining contents of his drink and stood up.
"I best not disappoint the eager." Francis said as he did the same.

"Perfect..." Wil thought. She waited a couple of minutes, then stood and left the bar, wandering towards the docking bays. The drone's wheeltracks were imprinted in the loose sand that was everywhere on this dustball, and they lead towards bay 73. She smiled and headed towards bay 27, and Zephyr. "'Kay, Zeph, fire'm up! We've got a legend to find! Set course for Paxor!" she said to her ship's computer as she settled into the pilot's seat and strapped herself down, listening to the sounds of her ship starting up.
"Ground control, permission to leave?" she asked belatedly, thumbing on her comm.
"Granted. Get off our rock, Quietpeddle!" replied Larkin, one of her contacts.
"Larkin, lemme know when 73 lifts off..." she said cheerily, as she went through her takeoff sequence.
"...I could just accidentally keep my channel to you open when I give them clearance, I guess. Good flight, Quietpeddle!" Larkin replied.

"Everything seems to be in order, except for the Upsilon drive. Might have to put in a stop to a requtable repair yard, unlik the ones on this dust bowl..." Calim'rath growled as he went over a systems check while sitting in his pilot seat. The retrieval cages in the cargo bay shone green, meaning they were free of rubbish, rubbish of the bounty sort. One showed yellow, the one closest to the hatch leading outside. "Probably just some vagrant with some stealing skills hoping to find a place to rest for the day, hmph. I guess I'll go and sort him out..." He said, lifting from his seat and padding his way through the limitless corridors of the Gilded Samrang.

Docking Bay 73, the Scimitar's resting place. It was some distance from the Cantina, but the trip was cut short.
"What a piece of junk!" Shamus exclaimed upon entering the docking bay and setting eyes on the Scimitar.
"She may be a piece of junk, but she get's you where you need to go, and fast." Francis said, almost lovingly. He went keyed open the boarding ramp and entered before it even touched the ground. Without stopping, R9 went up the ramp, leaving Shamus staring at the interior. He ascended the ramp and took in his surroundings. It needed a lot of work, and he was just the person to do it. He wasn't in the habit of doing anything without first asking permission.
"Come up here." Francis called from the cockpit, situated down a short corridor. The bulkheads looked like they were padded, but this was more for a more ascetic feel.
"Sit down over there." Francis said, pointing to a lone chair about two meters behind him. Shamus didn't take any notice as he was busy looking at the many displays and controls. He made his way to the front and began to lower himself into the co-pilots chair.
"Not there!" Francis snapped, making Shamus jump.
"Why not there?" Shamus said as he relocated himself.
"You're not the co-pilot." Francis said without even looking round as he was busy with a quick pre-flight.
    "Then... who is?" Shamus hesitated.
"No one is," Francis said as he leant back into his flight chair. "Ground Control, this is the Scimitar, we're ready to go."

"Scimitar, permission to leave Docking Bay 73..." Larkin's voice crackled over the comm. Wil allowed herself a tight grin as she locked on to the transponder signal of the Scimitar and memorised some of the more notable visual characteristics. "It has a unique profile... how tremendously convenient!" she thought as she quickly cycled her scanner away from the fast-approaching Scimitar, flying casual to divert attention from herself. She waited for them to pass, and took off after them. "Though, if they are going to Paxor... no biggies..." she thought as she punched her interdrive, skipping into the reality between realities.

Francis headed towards space. After clearing the atmosphere, he immediately made some jump calculations.
"It'll take a few moments to get the coordinates from the navi-computer." Francis said as he kicked back for a few moments.
    "Fair enough... why?" Shamus asked.
"What?" Francis asked, not entirely sure what he was hearing.
"Well, I've never flown before. I'm just wondering why we can't just go there now." Shamus explained, feeling rather embarrassed.
"Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star, or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?" Francis said with a little laugh as the computer beeped, confirming the coordinates.

Wil checked her computer for the ETA. The planet was about as far from the centre of the galaxy as you could get to, and Paxtor was pretty much smack dab in the centre. She ran the calculations, then nodded. 16 hours until she arrived at Paxtor. She set the alarms and sensors, just in case she was dragged out of interspace unexpectedly - rumour had it the CWC had developed a vessel capable of emitting gravity fields to pull ships out of interspace - and went to have a quick shower, some food and a nap.

Author's note: Due to the intense speed, travelling for too long in Interspace can cause sensory distortion and space nausea. Shipboard computers tend to have a failsafe built in that plots a course requiring the ship to exit Interspace after 24 hours, to avoid the onset of such debilitating symptoms. Such failsafes can be overwritten but why would anyone willingly undergo such a situation?

Jinx had made her way into one of the ships. A Sytarak. Her original intention had been to make her way to the control room, hot wire the ship, and get off the planet. The problem she'd been over-looking, however, was that she didn't actually know how to fly a ship this big. Or, at least, that would have been the problem if she'd even made it to the controls. But her real problem was, or rather is... she's lost.

Having managed to get inside, she then had to figure out which way it was to the control room. And so far, she's failed and ended-up back where she started: the cargo bay.

Shamus sat back in his chair as Francis jumped them into interspace. He looked out the viewport to catch a glimpse of their transition. The stars blurred into a mottled white as they sped towards their detination. R9 chirped to live with what seemed like angry trills.
"What was that?" Shamus said to diminuitive drone. R9 replied with another series of chirps.
"What's the tin can saying?" Francis asked as he sat back and relaxed.
"He says that our destination isn't Paxor Prime." I thought that's where we're going?" Shamus said rather confused.
"We are, but we're going to Gaea, first." Francis said. He looked at Shamus and knew what was coming, "we're stopping at Gaea to make fresh calculations, you never know what type of tail you get from a place like that." He explained. The look on Shamus' face showed that he at least understood that much.

Calim'rath entered the cargo hold to the sound of muffled footsteps. They moved quickly and stopped. "You can hide, you can run. But I will have you know that if I find anything missing, you will be running a very long time to an untimely end." The sound of a few things being placed on the floor was heard as a person of short stature came from the shadows. The scent marked them as one of the Ling crossbreeds, the second half could only be speculated as most of the crossbreeds came out vaguely human-ish no matter what. "Well done sir, I believe you have made the wisest choice of your life." Calim'rath stated, "But no matter, I will report your... indescretion to the authorities, along with the multiple infra-red and low-light images I have of you. If you ran from these charges, no doubt I will be paid well enough to hunt you down and one of these cells will be for you." Calim'rath accentuated this with his claws sliding down the metallic hull. "Serve your time, and stay safe.... that is my advice. I will be leaving in exactly 1 minute. Be off my ship or you will classed as a stowaway and be jettisoned. Good day."

And with that Calim'rath turned and left the bay, setting the sequence for the hatch to open exactly 3 seconds before the minute ran out. If the cretin didn't get fried by the gravitational thrusters, then he would have a sore head from the noise of them. Pleased with himself and his response to the situation, he moved back the the pilot seat, and eagerly awaited the hurried escape of the.... guest.

Francis pulled a box out from a nearby compartment. Opening it, he proceeded to strip down his blasters for cleaning. Shamus looked out of the forward viewport, at the tunnel of stars before him.
"How long until we get there?" He asked.
"About an hour, Gaea's not too far away. It's the jump to Paxor Prime that'll take the longest." Francis said as he put the finishing touches on the first blaster.
"You got anywhere to sleep on this bucket of bolts?" Shamus said without thinking.
"Only crude quarters but perhaps the cargo hold would be more suited to you." Francis replied more to the jibe at his ship.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. Your ship's doing a fine job so far." Shamus said trying to make up for it.

OOC: Shall we just fast-forward? Sleeping is boring lol

    IC:

A persistent beeping penetrated the fog of sleep in Wil's brain. She groaned and opened her eyes, glancing around the darkened cockpit for the source of the noise. The proximity indicator was flashing, and she leaned forward for a closer look. "Paxor Prime is coming up in a few minutes..." she thought, as she started preparing herself to bring Zephyr out of interspace and begin her approach to the planet.
