I'm a bit of a fan of the other Scream movies (even Scream 3, which isn't that bad at all). My favourite is probably the second one. And we'll be seeing a fourth!! Dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but we're getting it regardless, and it's due for release in January 2010.

Re: Scream 4
Ok, there's gonna be spoilers in this, so I'll put it all behind a cut. And when I say spoilers, I mean big ones. So don't click to continue on unless you've already seen the movie, or you wanna be spoiled. XP
I'm quite a big fan of the Scream movies, with Scream 2 being my favourite, and I don't even mind Scream 3. Infact, I do enjoy watching it. So when I heard about Scream 4, I was... torn. I didn't know if another movie in this series would be a good thing or a bad thing. But I knew I had to see it.
And, for myself, and for those of you that care, here's what I thought of it...
- Spoiler:
- The movie starts off badly, in my opinion. We open on the typical scene of some girl getting a phone from some creep with a creepy voice. She's at home with a friend, and guess what, they're about to watch a movie~. In all honestly, I don't mind this. It's how I expect Scream movies to start, and I love it. So cheesy. =)
But then, after they get slaughtered of course, we find out it was just a movie. Stab 6. Ok, interesting... I guess. And now we're faced with two more new faces. A couple of blonde bimbos. Your typical horror movie fodder. Though, to be honest, I did love it when one stabbed the other. XD But, again, it was just another movie. Stab 7.
And that's kinda where I think things went wrong. Because the next characters we meet are the real ones. But because you're already bored, and expecting the same crap yet again, you don't grow any concern for them. I guess what they were hoping for was some of sort of "Oh! OMG, that was real!" when it's revealed it's not just another movie within a movie. But that didn't happen for me. I didn't care, and my expectations for the movie were hitting low. =(
You'll recognise some of our past heroes; Sidney, Gale, and Dewey. But there's alot of new faces too, as always. They've presented us with a nice sized cast to slaughter. And slaughtered they are. Mwahahahaa!!
*ahem*
Next character we come across, is Sidney herself *yays*. But my first thought when seeing her was "What the f*ck are you wearing!? You're not Sidney!!". I'm sorry. I've just never pictured Sidney in a dress like that.
Ah, and then we meet her publicist, Rebecca. You'll find out very quickly that she's the overly annoying, "new Gale" (though probably not as annoying as the one from the last movie). She's more than a little stupid. A b*tch, An air head. And, thank god, dead, eventually. Though she'll p*ss you off before that happens. And then you'll lol at how stupid she is during her final scene.
Anyway. Moving on. Dewey!! Our comic relief, with the most awesome of alarm tones - the theme from Beverly Hills Cop!! XD And yay, he and Gale are still together! But, ho no, as predicted, they've tried to add the usual tension between them in this movie, but it fails. It's not feisty, or fun. It's boring, it's annoying, and it's pointless.
Gale acts like her usual self, and of course, eventhough she's not a reported anymore, she wants to help Dewey solve the crime. It's something she's always been good at (she should take that up as a career instead). Annnd Dewey acts like an arse, to be honest.
And it won't be long before you meet Dewey's fan girl, Judy. She's creepy, she's annoying, she's a familiar irritant to most people in relationships, I'm sure. So I guess she's kinda believable. There's always one, right? Unfortunately though, she's one of those characters who survives, eventhough you really wish she wouldn't.
Now, let's meet a couple of the girls; Kirby, another annoying character (there's way too many of these already) who you'll probably hope dies very soon, and Jill, the very obvious "new Sidney". These are two of the new character you're meant to care about. But you probably won't. Oh, and Jill is Sidney's cousin, btw. You can already see where this is going, can't you? *yawn*
Kirby does die, eventually though. As does Jill. But only sometime after she's revealed to be one of the killers!! *shock... not* Yeah, if you're like me and you've watch Scream movies for years, and you know the signs, you'll know never to go with the obvious, and you'll know what to pick up on. The main thing that did it for me was when the other killer cut her arm. If she'd been anyone else, he would've stabbed her somewhere vital. Didn't we already go through this in Scream 2 when Mickey tried to through suspicion in Derek's direction?
Anyway. She really is a truly f*cked up little girl. Her motives are perfetic and predictable. And I got really bored listening to her sh*t. Seriously. Just how f*cked up can one person be!? ¬_¬
And while we're on the subject of the murders, here are a couple of the boys:
Charlie and Robbie. Two complete d*cks. Oh, and Charlie's the other killer. Who's also killed by his partner, and lover, Jill. Because she just has to be the star. Yes. When I said she was the obviously Sidney wanna-be, she really is.
Oh, and I forgot about Trevor. He's Jill's ex-stalker-of-a-boyfriend. He really f*cking annoys me through out the entire film. He's such a d*ck. I can't explain just how much. f*cking. Grrr!! And I really don't understand why, when he walks into Kirby house, no one throws him out. She yells at him to get out, and that's about it. Just f*cking throw him out!! For f*ck sake.
Needless to say; I enjoyed his death. Especially when Jill shot him between his legs after proclaiming "I am not a girl you cheat on". As much as I hated Jill, I loved her for that. Seriously.
Overall though, I enjoyed the movie. I know this entry points out many of the flaws, and it's my least favourite of the series, but I'll be buying it (when it's like £3 or something). Scream 2 remains my favourite, for many reasons. This movie had too many bimbos, too many annoyances, and a stupid pair of murders. And the acting in this movie didn't really seem as natural until things really started to get going. New characters though, just didn't feel right at all. Which is a shame because new characters in previous films have always felt fine. These guys though, just didn't feel like they were meant to be in the same film.
Oh, and the cops' deaths outside the house were crap. Really crap. I know they were going for funny, but it just didn't work. Oh, and we didn't get any Dewey comicness until right at the end!? Wth!? Though he was beaten round the head with a bedpan. Repeatedly. XD
Now that I've ruined the entire film for you, I have a question to ask...
What the hell happened to Courtney Cox's face!? I looked it up, and obviously she's had some work done. But she looks awful. Why on earth would she do that to herself!? She looked fine before. I really don't understand celebrities...
Anyways, I'll close with a picture of Sidney, from Scream 4, dressed more like herself. ^-^ And please, please, feel free to post your own thoughts, or poke me about anything I've missed (coz there's alot of it - lol).
